Anniversaries – scholarships and a memorial concert

PROGRAMME CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In 2020 we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1st International Kodály Seminar (1970) in Kecskemét, and commemorating the centenary of the birth of Ms. Denise Bacon, American pianist and music educator, co-founder of the Kodály Musical Training Institute (1969) and founder of the Kodály Center of America (1977) in Wellesley, Masachusetts.

For these occasions, the Foundation for the Kecskemét Kodály Institute is happy to announce three scholarships for exclusively American citizens to take part in the 31st International Kodály Seminar in July 2020, in Kecskemét, Hungary. More information is available here.

Furthermore, on the 4th of April 2020, the Foundation is organising a memorial concert at the Kodály Institute where we can celebrate the centenary of the birth of Ms. Bacon. Performers of the Bacon 100 Concert will include the Student Choir of the Kodály Institute, led by Professor László Norbert Nemes, the Kecskemét Singing Circle, led by Professor Péter Erdei, Katalin Komlós (piano), Csaba Onczay (violoncello), and Márta Erdei (piano). Professor Nemes is going to give a memorial speech. Detailed programme of the concert will be available later.
